You hear that, Bloomie?

From Fox 5:

Invoking his own name-and-shame policy, President Barack Obama warned the nation's mayors Friday that he will "call them out" if they waste the money from his massive economic stimulus plan.

"We have asked for the unprecedented trust of the American people to deal boldly with the greatest economic crisis we have seen in decades -- and the privilege of investing unprecedented amounts of their hard-earned money to address this crisis," Obama told a gathering of mayors at the White House.

"With that comes an unprecedented obligation to do so wisely, free from politics and personal agendas," the president said. "On this I will not compromise or tolerate any shortcut."

Certainly Jesus knows that we don't trust him with our money. So he will forgive us graciously when we wait impatiently, see, and judge harshly.

The redeemer says that he will not compromise or tolerate any shortcut. Surely, we should do no less for him as he flushes our money and our children's future.

Any complaints from the worshipers?

I wrote President Obama an email telling him not to trust Bloomie for a second with ANY money. I don't know about other mayors around the country, but Bloomie should not be trusted to spend the money wisely here.

I'm going to e-mail President Obama's office informing him of the wasteful spending already underway with projects like the Willets Point boondoggle, etc.

Follow suit all of you out there and back me up with a slew of letters and e-mails.

Thanks!

President Obama would do well to listen to Italian Girl. Now, the rest of you to this. Don't trust President Obama with ANY of OUR money. It's amateur hour in DC.

New York to Obama: "Let us drop dead!"

I can't believe you guys are not only willing to give up federal dollars, but actually INSISTENT that New York NOT receive any of the stimulus goodies.

georgetheatheist, let me borrow your gun so I can shoot myself in the foot.

Anon, It's not so much that we insist NYC not get any funds...We just don't trust Mayor Doomberg...get it D-0-0-M-B-E-R-G. He would appropriate the funds to frivolous and useless proposals and/or programs.

Actually, it's about taxpaying citizens being vigilant. "The price of liberty is eternal vigilance." T. Jefferson.

Then: "It is the common fate of the indolent to see their rights become a prey to the active. The condition upon which God hath given liberty to man is eternal vigilance; which condition if he break, servitude is at once the consequence of his crime and the punishment of his guilt.—John Philpot Curran: Speech upon the Right of Election, 1790."

Then: "There is one safeguard known generally to the wise, which is an advantage and security to all, but especially to democracies as against despots. What is it? Distrust.—Demosthenes: Philippic 2, sect. 24."

Since Obama is our new president, why don't we wish him success? God knows that we will pay for any failure. Bush left him a witches' brew, at least as bad as what Coolidge left for Hoover. Let's hope he has more luck than Hoover did with his depression.

In short: "I'm a sore loser. My guy, who was in office for the last eight years, screwed up royally, and I can't stand it."
