From Iron Triangle Tracker:
Former Borough President Claire Shulman’s lobbying firm presented plans to rezone a portion of the Flushing River waterfront to Community Board 7, a project it says will provide both a literal and a figurative bridge to the city’s planned redevelopment of Willets Point.
The vision for the area, developed by Jay Valgora’s Studio V architectural firm with guidance from Shulman’s Flushing/Willets Point/Corona LDC, elected officials and the Department of City Planning, would create a special zoning district adjacent to Muss Development’s Skyview Parc and provide waterfront access, a bolstered commercial district and affordable housing if realized.
Given the Flushing River’s history as a heavily polluted waterway abutted primarily by heavy manufacturing and industrial uses, board members were skeptical.
“What makes you think that people will want to go down to the river in the summer?” asked board member Kim O’Hannion. “Have you ever been there in the summer? It stinks.”

I can't wait to see who buy into the Muss units - you would have to wear a gas mask all day ro live there, yet alone even look at or walk alongside the brown oily contaminants. A minute spent there get one sick - ever drive on the whitestone expressway past this site at 60mph? You feel violently ill for the minute it takes to drive past here - but the smell makes your nose bleed and stomach vomit.
The water could be cleaned up if it was made a priority. I remember when the East river smelled like an open sewer. Today there is a ton of expensive housing built on top of it and it smells fine. It takes a good water treatment plant, some changes in the sewer system and about 10 years.
What about the charges of illegal lobbying against Granny and the Parksiders? HMMM... Sounds like a music group. ever hear of Bloomie and the Tweeders?
the smell is from human waste from the sewer plant that spills into the river that is a known documented fact, put the blame where it belongs-- the city, just like it is with every other subject in willets point
this old ass hole is still alive

well then they should put one in and leave willets point alone they should of put one in 30 years ago
Yes. I tend to thing government money should be used for traditional services such as sewage treatment, hospitals, roads, and schools. No one likes to pay taxes, but if at least it keeps your community from becoming Tobacco Road you must grind your teeth and pay.
Unfortunately, our taxes have become a grab-bag for special interests and legalized theft of private property is the flavor-du-jour.

ok biggie than why don't you stop for 2 minutes so you become ill and bleed? please
Granny Shulman is merely presenting her re-hashed, mish-moshed version of the waterfront access plan first presented about 10 years earlier by the citizen organized "Coalition For A Planned Flushing".
It was they who hired an international award winning design firm to present a new master plan for Flushing to the city.
This senile crook/partner of Donald Manes never had an original idea in her head.
Frau Shulman was only good at "following orders" like the good little armchair Nazi that she is!
I'd love to see the statement of the $$$$$$$ she's got in her numbered Swiss bank account for selling out her borough!
