Triangle Hofbrau stuccoed!

"The Myrtle Avenue side of the Triangle Hofbrau has been covered in stucco.
I believe the medical office which now occupies the site stated previously they would make no alterations to the exterior of the building, but that seems to have been thrown out the window.

Fortunately, the Jamaica Avenue side retains its detail, but for how long?"

Well you can write off this building getting landmarked.

And as a result of the preservation community's public education program, buildings throughout Queens now understand that this stucco rots buildings: city council is about to pass legislation like in other areas banning its use.

Not

What is your gripe?

They do not stucco buildings in landmark designated areas like the Village, West Side, East Side, and Brooklyn Heights so its not an issue.

Or we should say an issue for people that count.

According to the sign, they've installed stuccoo, not stucco.

It's no longer a German Restaurant so who cares. It lost local and surrounding area support and closed.
If it was going to be landmark it should have been so 25 years ago, when it was still a vibrant business.
Although it is very difficult to landmark private business's when the owner object's to the status.
The upkeep of keeping a landmark building is very expensive and the owners hate to pay for it.
It would be very hard to find a business owner who also owns their building to agree to accept landmark status.
Remember the "DON'T TREAD ON ME" chant.
Well it apply here also. Of course unless you want to pay for it, and with the economy down, don't hold your breath for the funding.

WELL THE COMMUNITY CARES. THE LAST TIME I CHECKED BEING A GERMAN RESTAURANT WAS NOT ONE OF THE CRITERIA FOR DESIGNATION.

If it was going to be landmark it should have been so 25 years ago, when it was still a vibrant business.

JUST BECAUSE THE MAINLINE PRESERVATION COMMUNITY DISSES QUEENS, AND OUR LOCAL TALENT IS INEPT DOES NOT CHANGE THE BASIC VALUE AS A LANDMARK.

Although it is very difficult to landmark private business's when the owner object's to the status.

NOT TRUE. SEE THE POST WERE CONGRESSMAN JOE CROWLEY'S STAFF LIED TO SOMEONE IN WOODSIDE ABOUT THIS.

The upkeep of keeping a landmark building is very expensive and the owners hate to pay for it.

SURE, ALL THOSE STUPID PEOPLE IN GREENWICH VILLAGE, BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, EAST SIDE, WEST SIDE ALL WAITING FOR THE INTELLECTUAL HEAVYWEIGHT AVERAGE BOB (REMEMBER HIM) FROM QUEENS TELLING THEM WHERE ITS AT.

It would be very hard to find a business owner who also owns their building to agree to accept landmark status.

WELL IF YOU DONT CROSS THE EAST RIVER YES. MOST OF US A BIT MORE WORDLY. CAN SOMEONE ESCOURT THIS RUBE TO SOHO AND LADIES MILE?

Remember the "DON'T TREAD ON ME" chant.

EXHIBIT A AS TO WHY PEOPLE IN QUEENS ARE LAUGHED AT AND NOT TAKEN SERIOUSLY. EVERYTIME A FIREBALL LIKE THIS SAYS SOMETHING THEY ARE INVITED TO GO TO LANDMARK COMMUNITIES AND SPREAD THEIR 'LOGIC'

THEY NEVER DO.

Would you like your money being spend on land marking this building? The owners of the brownstones across the East River can afford it. Maybe this owner can not afford the cost. Who should pay for privately owned buildings to be landmark , the Taxpayer.
This is a business not a private home, let the owner pay for it. If I owned a Landmark home, would you give me the cash for it upkeep,if yes then great.

OK, dipshit, if you don't know what you are talking about, keep your mouth shut.

Its people like you that make this boro a laughing stock.

I assume you have never been in area area that is landmarked, nor do you know of anyone that lives in that area.

The LPC is supported by your taxes. Thats right. While you run around running at the mouth, your taxes are being used to enrich someone else.

Oh yes, to answer your question. My money is being used to landmark other people's buildings.

And so is yours.

ah go easy on him.

his blithering ignorance is not all his fault.

the people that live in landmarked areas know exactly what they are doing.

they treat the people of queens like mushrooms.

you know.

keep them in the dark, feed them shit, and cut their head off when they stick their heads up.

Yea, landmarked Ft Greene is full of rich people.

So is Jackson Heights and Sunnyside Gardens.

I love Queens.. This is so funny.
Although I do agree , private business should not be land marked, unless the owner agrees. I wouldn't want to be told what to do with my home.

Oh I think you want to maximize the value of your home.

Then you landmark it. Study after study has proven this (although our 'friends' in preservation are loath to reveal this)

But, then again, if you want the right to dig a big hole and put up a nine story monster or a fat rendering plant for your neighbors to enjoy, then you cannot (unless of course you live in community board 1 or 2 where anything goes)

Ever hear of zoning? You are restricted right now. You many not know it, but you are.

Oh yes, I am sure that you would not be happy if your neighbor puts up a 15 story hotel with windows just 6 feet from your son's bedroom, so this 'restriction' helps you, too.

But you see folks, instead of the preservationists encourging prodevelopment study after study they should be out there telling these things to this person.

They don't see the need.

These things don't happen in their community so its not important.
