Shuttle bus blues in Hunters Point

If you want to hear what the "new" Hunters Point sounds like, listen to the audio. Two women were interviewed and they sound like clones of each other. And here I thought Queens was all about diversity...

Now, as for the transit issue, just about every line in this city has weekend shuttle buses from time to time for repair work. Just because it's suddenly affecting yuppies doesn't mean it's news (even when the Doorman tries to come to the rescue). You have your choice of 3 bus lines to take you to other train stations, or you can walk to the E, V or G from Hunters Point.

P.S. Those 1970s-style holiday lights were paid for by developers and the condo dwellers think they're fantastic... In fact, they love them so much that they turned criticism of them into a tirade about this blog being racist. (Hey, it's not our neighborhoods that are intentionally becoming less diverse... it's yours!)

They're bitching about having to take a shuttle bus 3 stops? You've got to be kidding me. They should take the M shuttle bus when the train is out of commission, which is frequently...

And the moral of the story is: If you want your friend to help you put furniture together, at least be generous enough to spring for a cab.

Those who seek refuge in vertical white enclaves which require no interaction with neighborhood around them have no business calling anyone else racist.

I don't know what happened to LIQ City. It used to post some interesting features, now it seems to be all developer press releases.

So, like, I wanted my friend to help me put my, like,, furniture together...

Sounds like Caroline Kennedy moved into Hunters Point.

Hy Wade, go get em on LIQ city!

You see in Manhattan this does not happen. If one line is down, you can take another, or at most a quick 5 minute bus ride to the train.

Yet another strike against Queens.

Add this to the limited shopping, limited nightlife, limited ....

Wow, there is some real contempt by these new people towards Queens.

I had no idea.

Gioia does the same thing every year. It's on his calendar.

I knew that blog was utter garbage when I first saw it.

I love how they talk about diversity and then say willets point should be paved over (thus displacing many, uhm, diverse, workers).

I almost feel bad for anyone that bought into any of those buildings. I've seen the insides of all of them while they were being built and the materials used were substandard, to say the least.

I'm gunna have to ride that blog's ass for awhile now... heh!

Answer me this: what exactly is wrong with diversity?

You'll find out when you visit tomorrow.

Hey Crappy check this one out...
http://www.queenswest.com/neighborhood/discussion/191286097

Shouldn't these people be happy that the MTA is performing the work necessary to maintain and improve service on their main subway connection while many other neighborhoods are seeing their service cut?

I guess special treatment isn't good enough for these folks...

Nice to see most of Queens has seen thru this site for what it is..

And the confirm the QC has a vagina is news as well.

Naw, this site as balls.

Unlike the whining yuppies (you are not in Cleveland little girl) that has Team Gioia on their side, to say nothing of the community board, city planning, hell the entire machinery of government (as well as everyone' tax dollars) to stand up and say the thing you see here takes balls.

Something both sexes have on this site.

The thing that impresses me is Team Gioia on TV complaining about what seems to be typical weekend track work.

Worried about people that cannot makes ends meet. Who, the developers will falling sales.

Hey kids, you are living on a toxic site. That is the least of your concerns.

Ah it those yuppies in Queens West that looks down on Queens.

They would be happy if the entire boro is bulldozed. They have such contempt for us.

Anonymous said...

Why is Queens Council on the Arts moving into the only Queens community that is becoming less diverse.

Hung yee, would you like to answer?

Hey love this site! Came over from LIQ City after playing with their head.

All in the holiday spirit, of course!

Boo Hoo! I have lived in LIC for 13 years and there have been many times that we did not have access to either the 7 or the E/F(when it used to stop at 23rd/Ely) on the weekends. But of course now that the highrises w/ all the yuppies who were sold a bill of goods about easy access to grand central are upset it is news. Get some exercise and walk to the E line on 44th drive. It will add 15 minutes to your commute but you will live, unless you are wearing heels. Take the shuttle then. Welcome to LIC. You can always move back to manhattan! It won't kill you and you will see that there is more to the neighborhood than your ivory towers on the water front. As they say buyer beware. Life isn't always easy. You will survive this and have a better running 7 (hopefully). As for Gioia, he is just preparing for his next polital office, although now that term limits have been done away with he might run again heaven forbid.I was lookibg forward to his leaving. He certainly does not have my vote for any office.

Dont they have a bike lane?

Enough taxes went into it, and EVERYONE uses bikes, right?

Anonymous said...

They want a bus to leave from Grand Central?

OK, lets remember that the next time a train goes out in Elmhurst or Astoria.

Anonymous said...

These folks should move to Elmhurst where there are so many Condos that are going begging and cheap that they are now turning into low priced rentals Yippy - I mean Yuppie!

Anyhow if these LIC Yuppies are unhappy - I invite them to Elmhurst where minorities left from the olden days like myself welcome them.

Looks like there's a real estate ad right on the subway entrance. Good God.

Sure, try lying about the diversity of LIC to make up more things to be bitter about. The people moving to LIC have quite diverse ethnic backgrounds. It really seems like you all take pride in being ignorant.

True, but the demographic map published by NYC which color codes different immigrant communities, and overall immigrant presence, shows a FALLING OFF of diversity in most of Manhattan, landmarked areas, and Hunters Point as the only community in Queens becomeing less diverse.

Why do you think the politicans want to flood your community with thousands of 'affordable housing' types?

They want a solid Democratic voting block and dont want to lose your community.

When the 'affordable housing' folks move in you can kiss goodby the schools and parks and so much of the squeekly clean new image of your community.

Lets just say they will, like a pair of sneakers, break the community in for you.

I love it: I just moved to this strange land, and now I'm trapped here! Help me put my furniture together.

Of course they dont bike. You confuse different issues that are petty.
Cant they take the LIRR?Thats more classy for them anyway.

They do live on a very toxic site all over Hunters point so they can complain about the kidney and brain cancers Greenpoint has dealt with for many years way before Johnny sushi came.Dont expect any compensation from the city when you need medical care.

TEAM GIOIA IS READY TO PROVIDE BUS SERVICE FROM GRAND CENTRAL FOR YOU WHILE IGNORING THAT THE REST OF THE COMMUNITY GETS BULLDOZED.

TELLS YOU WHO IS IMPORTANT, AND WHO IS SHIT.

I WANT MY TAXES TO PAY FOR YUPPIES TO FLOOD MY COMMUNITY SO THEY CAN LOOK DOWN ON ME.
