Blame the headline writer. Not many article writers do their own headlines; certainly not DeBlasio, a guest columnist...

In the last year I see more and more misspellings, grammar errors, dropped words, mangled sentences in both the NY Daily News as well as the NY Post.
Apparently some bean counter has decided that eliminating the proofreading and editing step is a cost saver.
The last time I regularly say such slop was back in the 60s and 70s when newspapers were still using hand processed linotype.
yeah this one is on the paper, not the writer. reporters or writers almost never write their own headlines, that is left up to editors. It is safe to say that the councilman didn't submit the piece w. the misspelling.
Well, it's not just the misspellings. It should be "Buildings'" not "Building's". Unless DOB only oversees one building (which sometimes seems like the case). And unless they were going for a pun, it should have been "adds" not "ads".

I have found during my long life the more intelligent and educated a perso is the more they misspell. The theory is that their minds are going faster then the pen.
Yeah but if they are that intelligent and educated, they should know enough to have someone proofread their work.
Now since the paper seems to be the culprit, and good grammar is supposed to be a hallmark of the industry, this is just plain fucked up.
