Yeah, and only 40 years before that worlds fair women always wore a bustle. Maybe we can bring back slavery too. That was only 60 years before the fair.
I believe that the timing of these video's on this blog is to show just how homogeneously white, the way we were. Oh for one or two swarthy Italians.
"Happy and I'm smiling, Walk a mile to drink your water. You know Id love to love you, And above you theres no other. Well go walking out While others shout of wars disaster. Oh, we wont give in, Lets go living in the past."
"Once I used to join in Every boy and girl was my friend. Now there's revolution, but they don't know What they're fighting. Let us close out eyes; Outside their lives go on much faster. Oh, we wont give in, Well keep living in the past." Jethro Tull
oh boy, this brings me back! When a mars bar only costed 50 cents! Girls waited til they were in highschool to get pregnant. And Crack, now that was a drug! Today its all ruined!

Wow commenter #2, you must be one bitter human being. There's nothing wrong with remembering our past. Whenever I find a video relevant to Queens history, I post it. You must be a newbie.
People can always crab about the past, as if the present is without equal criticism. No era is without its sins, but there's no reason to not celebrate the better aspects of it, like these videos show. The choice is to react like a whining pc idiot or be a constructive student of history regarding all its dimensions.
Actually, the video shows someone's family enjoying the fair and is mostly shots of the exhibits there. Don't understand what you're talking about with your "homogeneously white" comment.
Oh, just another pc-head who can't accept the fact that life was different back then without passing, in this case, totally pointless judgment. Times change, and the past is what it is, so deal with it. The video doesn't have to apologize for anything.

Check out the other Robert Martens posted movies. They're fantastic!
Notice how people "dressed-up" in the old days. Gents, imagine wearing a suit and tie to go to the park today?
This present-day sartorial "slovenliness" was started by JFK who did not wear a formal hat on his inauguration in 1961. 'strue.

#2 - you're 40 now, so get out of your Mom's basement and put away your Jethro Tull(!) records and start contributing.
