I spotted this last week while visiting the Shops at Atlas Park. Immediately, I wondered who would be buying "couture" in Glendale, especially with the economy taking a nosedive. According to Crain's, the store signed a 10-year lease with Atlas.There's also a CraigsList ad seeking staff posted. The store is set to open November 9th.

Anyway, I've never understood this fascination with high-priced, designer stuff. I work with a lot of women who are slaves to these designer labels. Wearing these clothes doesn't make you more beautiful if you don't have the "body" in the first place.
If you have a great body, a $10 shirt will look great. You don't need to spend hundreds. And if you're going to buy designer stuff to impress guys, you can forget about it because they don't know designer labels. They just want to see you naked.

I say if you're wealthy and enjoy spending on designer stuff, knock yourself out. I was referring to people who don't have a pot to piss in yet buy $600 Louis Vuitton bags. Why do they do this?
All I'm saying is you don't need to spend big money to look hot.
Colorado Rockie Fudge Co and The Fondue Restaurant are opening next to The Amish Market-- way in the back and out of sight from the rest of the mall. Go figure?
Rockie Fudge was to open on Austin 2 years ago, but the greedy landlord wanted $8k per month rent!!! They went to Atlas instead and will pay only $3k. Amazing!!
The Atlas Park shops aren't high-end. They aren't junk and are a step up from places like Target or Gap, but it is still mid-scale shopping.
Actually, I think a Gap would fit right in there and be a moneymaker. But instead they rent to shops with "couture" in the name - because they are targeting the middle class.
When are the Austin landlords going to come to their senses and vote in a BID? Could they be that greedy?
When you are part of a BID, it's expensive, so you pass costs onto your consumers and end up driving business away.
