Life in the "new" LIC in a nutshell

From LIQCity:

The cigar lounge that was in the works, HALO, seems to have burned up in the hot summer sun… or melted away in all this rain, whichever you prefer. Ultimately, it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.

The Gristedes that was to arrive to the bottom of the Arris Lofts also seems to have evaporated. Sad news, we know, for Arris Lofters, and Purves-ites. Perhaps all the day workers in Court Square will also shed a tear.

This is followed by an anti-dentite sentiment, disappointment that a French bistro still hasn't opened yet, noting that an established restaurant changed their facade and wowzers - a new local real estate office is soon to open!

Now that our Vegin buddy is happy to see the old mainstays go in Hunters Point, you are certainly going to get a lot of Mexican, Indian, and South American spots.

Makeway for the brave new Queens.

Welcome to yesterday's Queens.

Fake neighbhorhoood, fake people, fake buildings.

Long Island City is fated to become those souless barracks built around Paris or your typical Communist capital.

Souless places full of clueless, angry people.

H-m-m-m....
now how are all those
"luxury" condo sales agents going to convince the "yupsters" to buy into a faltering neighborhood?

It's all beginning to go go bust, just like we predicted in Queens Crap last year.

Not to worry though, "Arris Lofts" can always be converted into low income housing and still make money for its owners.

That's what happened in Harlem over a hundred years ago.

And here I thought Jerry Seinfeld was the only anti-dentite!

Ah, the LICers will always have Water Taxi Beach.

Till September.

Post something about LIC and get comments from people jealous that they can't afford to live there. Lots of hating on Queens Crap . . .

Jealous schmealous. I think it's hilarious that people spend over 3 grand to live in a one bedroom in LIC! I've lived here my whole life and it cracks me up that all these hokeys bought into the crap realtors sold them. Supermarket? HA! We've been waiting for one for over 20 years. I'll believe it when I see it.

Completely laughable, since LIC is clearly the "destination" spot of those who can't afford Manhattan. And at least Queens Crappers knew where LIC was more than five minutes ago, unlike the "live like a star" bunch who couldn't have found it with a team of sherpas before deciding to "invest in the community" here.

You wont have to wait long. The Food Cellar supermarket in the new Rockrose tower opens on Wednesday. The Duane Reade next to it should open a few weeks later.

You mean the Amish Market place? I was talking about supermarkets that people shop at daily, not overpriced gourmet with fancy labels. Bring us a Pathmark, D'Agostino's, Stop & Shop, Shop Rite...

Who wants to live in a failed city planning experiment?

I guess Amanda Burden personally walked the streets when she decided to undertake the ridiculous upzoning here.

Even though I can't stand the ridiculous amount of development, I have to say I'm pretty happy about the Duane Reade. It beats going to Josh at the pharmacy on Vernon to get your prescriptions filled. He never has anything and you have to wait a day or two to get your Rx. And if you're lucky, you get the right prescription!

Pathmark, Stop & Shop, Shop Rite???

How pedestrian!

I thought Queens West was supposed to be full of affordable housing...and they are going to force the regular folks who move in to buy gourmet groceries?

The new LIC is a sad joke.

Anonymous said...

why is it pedestrian? it's not like they have those stores there already. supermarkets are becoming a novelty in NYC. get ready to buy your sustenance at the drug store.

Tired statements from developers and real estate people.

Sorry, what you are building there is a complete joke. The real NY knows how to get a better deal than found at Queens West.

A better deal in a real neighborhood.

A cigar lounge?

Puh-leeeze!

It looks like somebody's been puffing, but certainly not
on a Havana!

Yeah....right on "Kingofnycabbies"....
stupidly shelling out 3 million smackeroos just to live in an
"ALMOST MANHATTAN TOWER".

Buying into that kind of ersatz luxury is like dry humping in the real estate market!

(As Ralph Kramden would bellow
harrity, harr, harr)!

I'm POSITIVE I have more money than you, lived here all of my life and own a beautiful home in Queens with front AND back AND sideyards where my kids are happy playing and the family enjoys getting together.

Sad clueless ignorant people live in new luxury condos with narrow minds. You can't see 10 feet from your nose. I feel very sorry for you out of town kids because you will not make it in this increasingly difficult city AND world with attitudes like this. And you talk about others being angry? You truly are sad and laughable. AND JEALOUS.
