During a two-hour meeting Tuesday at Landmarks Commission headquarters in Manhattan, Como told Tierney he supports historic districts in Richmond Hill and Ridgewood, as well as landmarking the Forest Park Carousel in Woodhaven.
The pair also talked about St. Saviour's Episcopal Church in Maspeth, built in 1847 but denied landmark status when the commission ruled that repairs after a 1970 fire had altered it too much.
Kate Daly, a commission spokeswoman, said the meeting with Como was "constructive," and that the agency was evaluating the sites he mentioned.
New councilman Anthony Como vows to push landmarking in Queens
You read that right, folks. Anthony really, really cares about historic preservation. While he was campaigning, he constantly mentioned that he helped form a historical society to save St. Saviour's. See for yourself:
However, after taking a peek at next year's expense budget, I couldn't help but notice that Anthony only allocated a combined total of $5,000 toward the preservation organizations in his district (peanuts), and completely left out the one he claims to have founded.
So I guess he's just full of shit.

This is QUEENS for heavens sake. If you are a politican, you can say anything your want, fully confident, that the press will compound your misrepresentations, the hacks will repeat it making it a fact in the gullible (oh, about 90% of the population) so its ok.
Only Queens Crap will show the truth.
You know, its sad that a small segment out there, uncomfortable with the novelty of forming their own conclusions, will knock the Crap out of Crappy.
Rather than rise the to challenge of thinking, they would rather grumble and do nothing.
So of like an Archie Bunker.
Anthony Como = Ralph Kramden. The resemblance is remarkable. A-humina-humina-humina.
How much was allocated for DOB fines?
A preservationist?
Then why did he destroy his own house, only to replace it with a square toilet that accumulated at least 27 code violations and at least 8 stop work orders?
A preservationist?
Then why did he put so much effort into saving a bowling alley that occupies a big, ugly, brick building, while ignoring all opportunities to help save Saint Saviour's for conversion into a park?
Answer? Because he is a lying shit. The only preservationist actions he's taking are those to preserve the $112,000 salary for the part-time municipal employee job he has.
He needs our tax dollars to bribe the DOB inspectors to look the other way on that ugly monstrosity he's building just a very short distance from his best friend Gallagher-the-pervert's own house.
Who can tell the difference between Gallagher, Maltese and Como?
He is talking directly with the Landmarks Commission instead of throwing money at groups that you like, so you complain?
I don't want one more dollar going to that St. Saviour's boondoggle. Tax money should not go to this project so the JPCA can have its own personal meeting room building.
St. Saviour's is slated to be a chapel, community center and museum open to everyone.
He's a real idiot because the carousel can't be landmarked as it is a replacement.
Who can tell the difference between Gallagher, Maltese and Como?
--------------------------------------
That one is easy. Maltese is the decrepit old geezer drooling through his dentures, Gallagher is the one pleasuring himself outside senior centers and Como is the one with a head of hair.
The preservation money will be allocated to landmarking his "estate" in MV
"Anthony only allocated a combined total of $5,000 toward the preservation organizations in his district (peanuts), and completely left out the one he claims to have founded."
...and if he did give support to his own organization you would have complained too
Why would I have done that? He resigned all his positions on various boards when he assumed office. He would have lived up to his campaign promises by adequately funding all the preservation organizations in his district. Instead, he cherry picked and handed out peanuts. Had no problem handing out BIG money to Italian charities, though.
You can tweed more if you give to ethnic-related charities. Who do you think voted him in - Italians or preservationists? Quid pro quo...
Exactly. Como has been going around saying that he deliberately withheld funding from groups that didn't support him. Many groups are prohibited from supporting political candidates due to their tax status. I guess the individuals that lead these groups were expected to grease his palm.
St. Saviour's is slated to be a chapel, community center and museum open to everyone.
It had better be - its going to be a money pit that will absorb millions of taxpayer dollars now that the 'right' people have it.
Had no problem handing out BIG money to Italian charities, though.
Just like Bricklayer Onorato
Why should Como go out of his way for people that attacked him during the special election? You all have very primitive views on these things.
"Why should Como go out of his way for people that attacked him during the special election? You all have very primitive views on these things."
Como, be a man. Sign your name to your hate filled drivel.
You are sooooo boring.
"Why should Como go out of his way for people that attacked him during the special election?"
So he will never help or work with another Democrat? Because they will be attacking him.
Como, be a man. Sign your name to your hate filled drivel
using a vague alias is not the same as leaving your name
"using a vague alias is not the same as leaving your name"
another taxpayer does have a point
everyone here is under an alias
everyone here is under an alias
and no one here took the opportunity to voice your complaints last thurs. He gave you a free shot and none of you took it. now go on about be afraid of retalliation blah blah blah, or how it would of been a waste of your typing time.
"Fat" Tony's own
architectural/bodily "footprint" exceeds the permissible FAR bulk allowance under current NYC zoning!
He cast big shadow!
This "gavone" a preservationist?
Yeah...when pigs can fly!
Hey fat man....how about contributing some of your discretionary slush fund money to re-assembling St. Saviour's....eh?
Oh...what's that?
You haven't been in office long enough to accumulate enough $$$
to fill your cookie jar?
C'mon, Serph's shadow without any money?
I don't believe a word!
And is Ms. Cataldi suffering from Stockholm Syndrome believing that Como is interested in landmarking Richmond Hill?
She fell for the same crap from Gallagher!
Sorry for my candor Nancy.
I think I see the plan - Attack someone, then demand that he provide money to the groups you want, or else you will attack him more. Great strategy.
Como should distribute the wealth because it is the right thing to do, not to win praise.
He will continue to be attacked for being the bumbling stooge of Serf Maltese. And for his hideous house.
did any of you easy~ to ~ judgers see me endorse como in any way? do you think that i believe he can sway tierney, or the mayor with his appearance at LPC? all of you get real. did the daily news say that? all it said was that i hope he can get something done. no matter how much you people like to criticize..we worked very hard OUTSIDE the box of politicians, because they do not help in our neck of the woods.WE REZONED our own neighborhood, we put 6 sites on the natl register and still counting..... queens suffers for all of us and our volunteer efforts.
its a shame you all have to rip your own queens allies apart.
Attack Como?
No....just calling his hand!
This is a poker game you stooge and "phony" Tony won't ante up!
He's bluffing!
Preservationist my f----g ass!
Antonio is just a fat framed, garbage mouthed, mob owned gavone!
Maybe Tony should post his photo on "Chubby Chasers"!
He might find a nice lovable "finoccio" to keep him company.
Funny how the political (or real?) mob keeps on running their Maspeth/Middle Village territory through its latest "elected" capo....eh Don Serph?!!!
Being listed on the national register don't mean squat
(as you well know)
when it comes to protecting historic treasures Nancy(?)!
I'll send you another red pencil
to extend the perimeter around Richmond Hill that's up for grabs.
The truth is, either your nabe is red-lined or blue (blood) lined.
One gets razed while the other gets saved!
Praying, flailing your arms in the wind and making nice to pols is time ill spent.
the national register saved both churches with funding..they have become revitalized....and are thriving..it is not landmark status but it has helped immensely
why dont you put your name out there...we all know who you are anyway....
you can put that red pencil somewhere else...
