Teardowns we'd like to see

Here's a list of crappy architecture that should be torn down ASAP: 10 to lose: Ugly buildings NYC would be better without

Here's Urbanite's version: New Yuck architecture

As for our home turf, that Queens Plaza parking garage is number one on my list.

I couldn't agree more.

I'd tear down Borough Hall on Q.Blvd. That facade with the uninspiring columns has got to go.

I dunno. I like the Corinthian, and I dig the Astor Place Apartments as a counterpoint to Cooper Union.

If they detonated the Long Lines Building, I wouldn't complain.

But there are thousands other buildings in NYC I'd hit the explosion plunger for. Every Fedders piece of shit they've built over the last 10 years.

If the city tears down the Queens Borough Hall, it will likely be replaced with yet another glass-and-steel box.

This box will likely be praised by the NY Times, the AIA Guide, and other culture vultures. Meanwhile, the average taxpayer will likely reject the design, and yearn for the timeless beauty of City Hall and the LIC Courthouse.
