Street caves in because of crane

There was another crane accident in New York City Wednesday. This time, it happened in Brooklyn.

The heavy crane was being moved when the ground gave way. The street caved in- under the weight of the crane, leaving a huge sinkhole behind.

Residents say when they look at the street, they see pot holes and can tell the street is less than a foot thick. Why then, they wonder, did someone think it was OK to leave the crane there for weeks, especially a crane loaded down with heavy steel plates?

Crane collapses street underneath it

Thats a Department of Traffic problem and is not related to construction.
How biased can you be?

Did I say it was because of construction? Now who's biased?

I agree. This doesn't count.
Keep moving...nothing to see here.

If you don't think our crumbling infrastructure is important, then no wonder we're in the predicament we're in

Many times I find that simple common sense is not used by the government in making decisions.

Typical DOT. They never fix street problems correctly and they end up costing more in the end to repair.

The title of the article is "Street paves in because of crane."
The street did not cave in because of the crane the street caved in because the DOT did not do their job properly.
Queenscrapper - you are a pile of shit.

If DOT failed to do its job properly, that's because Commissar Death failed (again) to do his job properly.

As for QC being a pile of shit? Why are you seeing your relatives everywhere?

These "developers" who are so obviously posting here incognito (along with their pro over development pol/pals) will do anything to avoid accepting their fair share of the blame!

The union hall for operating engineers (I believe that covers cranes etc.) is located on the northwest corner of Parsons and Northern Blv'ds !

Anyone want to set up a picket line and protest their lousy oversight?
