Hiram now free and clear of competitive primary

Monserrate Statement on Sabini's Appointment to New York State Racing and Wagering Board

Council Member Hiram Monserrate [yesterday] made the following statement regarding Governor Paterson's recent appointment of State Senator John Sabini as Chairman of the New York State Racing and Wagering Board:

"I wish John Sabini the best of luck in his new position as Chairman of the New York State Racing and Wagering Board. I look forward to the election in November and remain committed to ensuring a Democratic majority in the New York State Senate and providing progressive leadership that advocates for working families in our city and state."

Monserrate is a candidate for the 13th NYS Senate District, including Corona, East Elmhurst, Elmhurst, Jackson Heights, Lefrak City and Woodside.

Damn, I was looking forward to the mudslinging in this one... but I am happy that in the great Queens tradition, John was given a no-show job in return for stepping down. Being around the ponies also means being around alcohol a lot. Good for him!

Monserrate is still corrupt and under investigation for his Libre sham group. Let's not forget this. Sabini will be missed in the district. That is my bet.

Does the public miss him? Ah, that is a shame. Then you need a new friend - get a dog.

The only thing that matters is what the clubhouse says.

Hiram will do to Hispanics what John did for Asians.

All your politics will have a new flava.

Lots of development (affordable housing), targeted tweeder programs (they will have a picnic!), etc.

Jackson Heights? What Jackson Heights?

This whole thing stinks to high heaven. Joe "I have everything handed to me" Crowley wanted to cut off Monserrate 's threat to run against him. With a huge Hispanic population in his congressional district, Crowley was ALWAYS worried about Monserrate. So Joe threw Sabini under the bus. Once again Crowley thinks about his own interests before anything else. A good indication is having his cousin run for that Middle Village council seat. I saw the NY1 debate and she's even more inarticulate than Joe!

REJECT MACHINE POLITICS AND MACHINE POLS!

I wager that Joe made a call to the Gov.

Perhaps George tuned into the WPIX celebration last Sat.

Joe Crowley is in enough hot water for trying to install his bimbitch cousin in the city council. If Monserrate goes down on some kind of corruption scandal, Crowley will have made his own bed of shit to lie in.

OTB Dump

Everyone is using OTB as a patronage dump – A victory for who? There are two types of OTB employee. The high paid political appointee and the workers And Rock most of the high paying jobs were appointed by Giuliani who were kept in place by Mike as a payback for Rudy support of him in 2001.

The new govern appointed State Senator John Sabini to run the state takeover to gain good will with the Queens Organization who he will want support from in 2010 when he runs for the office he now holds.
OTB which was sold to NYC in 1971 as a big revenue generator for education is now mostly subsidizing the race tracks that have been losing money for years. Remember Governor Spitzer reappointed the NYRA a private company to continue running the state’s tracks after a so called competitive bidding process. Before the sex machine did that there were audits showing corruption by the NYRA and waste of too many high paying jobs at the track.

At least a victory for continued dysfunctional

Yes, the Democratic party, headed by me, is making deals to limit your choice at the poles. Choice is not really good for you people. Our system was designed so that Democracy can be managed by bosses like me to prevent people from making bad choices. Since I was elected by the people, I therefore have not only the right, but the obligation to structure elections and place reasonable limits on democray for everyone's benefit.

Vote for Hiram!
Vote for Liz!

They're qulified because I said so. That's all you people need to know. Just do what you're told and everything will be great.

Are they going to clear a path from the track to Sabini's house every night, so nobody but him can get hurt when he crashes?
