The end of Woodhaven Lanes
A GOOD QUESTION...
WITH ALL THE CRAP ALREADY ON WOODHAVEN AND METROPOLITAN, WHY WOULD THEY
KNOCK WOODHAVEN LANES DOWN?
WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST THEY PUT IN PLACE OF THE OLD BOWLING ALLEY?
BEST BUY PERHAPS?
OR A QUEENS CRAP MUSEUM?

Goodbye to Woodhaven Lanes
Boro bowlers out in gutter

So Trader Joe's, Home Depot, Sports Authority and Staples are "crap"?? Instead of having very popular and needed retail establishments for the community, we would be better off if there were just a bunch of empty buildings.
No we already have enough big box crap at that corner. How about some entertainment for the working class?
In fact, why don't we bulldoze all of Forest Hills and replace it with Big Box Village so you can do all of your Made in China shopping in one place?
I don't even live in that neighborhood but was saddened when I was the reports about this on the news. There ARE other places to put big box retail stores. This was a place where people could go and NOT shop, but instead socialize, get a little exercise and kids could stay out of trouble.
Well, now they can be more like Astoria which got rid of its bowling alleys 20 years ago. One of them is now a crap retail store (on Bway near Crescent St).
Goodbye to all the Ralph Kramden, Fred Flinstone and Dan and Roseanne Connor types these bowling alleys attract. Guess what? The surrounding area is now more upscale than it once was. With a population that has some disposable income. Head out to Suffolk county where you belong. You can bowl till our heart's content and then get to park your car right on the front lawn.
I have to agree with anonymous #5.
I'd prefer the distribution and infusion of cash that comes with additional commerce than the white trash that frequents that bowling dump.
So....You can have Sports Authority in Queens but no place to play sports.....makes sense to me!

How many more Home Depots does this borough need?
Fred Flinstone? I always reference cartoon characters when I'm trying to make a point.
Small personnel retail stores is what the community needs. Not big box stores where you go in and no one wants to give you the time of day to help you unless they are getting a commission.
And whats wrong with Ralph Cramden and Fred Flintstone? They were hard workers supporting their families and their community. How many of you work full time and then go out and join local community organizations?
good riddance nothing but lowlives in that place
open a walmart
How about a Whole Foods? We can certainly use one.
