How not to publish a street sign (part 1?)

What's next, calling our town New York Sity?

A spelling-challenged city worker changed the name of SoHo's Mercer St. to Merser St.

A street sign put up last week on the northwest corner of W. Houston St. carried the erroneous letter, drawing laughs from passersby.

Mersy me! City can't spell Mercer St.

I remember seeing a couple of years ago in Waldheim-Flushing a street sign for Delaware Avenue as Delawere Avenue or something messed up like that.
