I lived across the street from that park for a little over a decade. That poor statue must've gotten mowed down by some idiot driver exiting the BQE every other summer.
I still live in the neighborhood but don't walk down 65th Pl all that often anymore. Usually in the summer, to chat with my old neighbors. I don't recall seeing the statue there last summer, now that I think about it...

There's also only one bench at what appears to be a chess table above the statue's base in the photo.
Maybe it's a wheelchair accessible chess table.
