Building code revamp

Brownstoner reports there is a Massive Building Code Overhaul on the Horizon.

Among the many changes to the codes are requirements for sprinklers in more building types; smoke control systems in more buildings and occupancies; site safety managers or coordinators on more job sites; permits for more types of scaffolds; and fee rebates for green design.

Get rid of that nefarious, failed,
self certification process, by which an architect
gets to approve his own plans
without any oversight from DOB plans examiners,
and you'll "revamp" the building code overnight!

It's been noted that approximately 80%
of all building code violations are a direct result
of self certification.

So why the "F" is it still around?

Maybe it's because it serves the
political/real estate industry so well
in streamlining the flow of campaign
contributions!
