Miss Heather sure has a knack for finding fugly buildings. She must own a private helicopter or something to scout about in. She's a good cookie to be sure.
I was born on Dekalb and Evergreen (actually Wycoff Heights Hos).
I believe the corner Miss Heather has sent was where the old Sanitarium was. It looked like the Maspeth Woods (RIP) in the 60's. The libarary was southwest up and across the corner
That area was once so nice and I MEAN NICE, you could sleep in you front gate or yard at night (the house was 1920's 110 electric with Edison base fuses couldnt run AC) Ted Kennedy’s immigration act of 1965 was like dropping a nuclear bomb on the whole Bushwick neighborhood. All the Germans sold there houses immediately. It was a slum jungle by 1969.
That summer Spanish music and bongo drums would blast all night. Most The new immigrants didn’t work. These "savages" would drink and go at it all night long fighting, stabbing each other as we watched Neil Armstrong walk on the Moon.
My family was the last to hold out till 1971 but had we had move (to Ridgewood) when my Uncle who lived on Stockholm and Central got stabbed in the back going fishing on morning. We could only get $8000 for the house (The Ridgewood 2 family “Stier house” on Seneca Ave and Norman cost $36,000 in 1971)
Our old house (1289 Dekalb) is on one of the only 1 family’s still standing. The tree is gone and part of a police station is now in its yard (Imminent domain)

But Joe, you completely missed the most important part:
THEY ARE THE TWEEDED!!!
as far as the politicians are concerned (as well as the lapdog press) nothing else matters.

Why your neighborhood is full of Queens Crap
"The difference between dishonest and honest graft: for dishonest graft one worked solely for one's own interests, while for honest graft one pursued the interests of one's party, one's state, and one's personal interests all together." - George Washington Plunkitt
The above organizations are recognized by Queens Crap as being beneficial to the city as a whole, by fighting to preserve the history and character of our neighborhoods.
