Try to look past the clashing porch and perimeter fences and picture this house on Wyckoff Avenue 100 years ago. The developers haven't gotten this one - yet.
I am taking your advice & looking past the gaudy fence. I visualize a garden that the original owners cherished and maintained. Kudos for preserving a charming well-constructed home though!
We just moved to Woodhaven on Forest Parkway. I hope that those glorious old homes will remain in the area. its a crime to tear down a classy and historic home to put up a side slide window fedder special.
Why are pretty homes bastardized? They are either pawns to a coarse age, or, if we judge from the beautiful Manhattan emerging from the ugly 70s, a low class tasteless element has seized control of the standards of taste in Queens.
Funny how if you try to save them, the preservationists will say 'oh no, they have been changed.'
So the question we must ask ourselves is why they remain idle as the owners brutalize our buildings?
