Serph's a stand up leader? Give me a break. He destroyed the Queens County Republican Party by not supporting GOP candidates and did nothing for the communities he serves for over a decade except do what's best for Serph.
Now that he almost lost his last election he's everywhere doing photo-ops to get his mug in the papers.
Look at this, developers, politicians, unions, my oh my.
All that is missing is the public. No wait, their moment will come, carefully scripted to the point of meaninglessness, as they walk into the voting booth.
Don't you love it when the hacks always tell you 'you can vote them out of office.'
Started to do Googles on all these people. Got as far as the first one where Serf and Cardella are using taxpayers' money to give condoms to 80 year olds.
Damon Hemmerdinger, 30, is a consultant and principal at Amenta & Company in New York, a consulting concern on the redevelopment of retail space. He is also a director of Leadership, Education and Athletics in Partnership in New Haven, which provides after-school and summer programs for children in Connecticut. He graduated magna cum laude from Williams College and received a law degree from Yale.
His father is the president of Atco Properties and Management, a New York-based owner, manager and developer of residential and commercial property. He is also a trustee of N.Y.U. and chairman of its fund-raising and alumni affairs committees, and a vice chairman of the Police Foundation and the Real Estate Foundation, both in New York. The bridegroom's mother is the secretary to the board of Atco and a playwright. The Hemmerdinger family owns the Atlas restaurant on Central Park South.
Hemmerdinger owns Atlas Park. So when Glendale people complain about the park to their local pols, it's a waste of time, because they are in Humdinger's back pocket.
so why not fight fire with fire by getting our civic associations to make campaign contributions to these political bozos too in order to buy their favor and get them on our side. It's worth a try. What do you say, folks?
You guys are absolutely right. Serf has been playing the game for years and filling his pockets with rich developer money despite the hardships they are causing in our community. The limping Korean veteran will only get you so far, it is time for new leadership. Joe Addabbo perhaps?
I was disappointed and deeply saddened to read anti-Italian remarks posted on this website. I have always liked Queens Crap and the posts. however, I find it deeply disturbing that the blog author would allow such inflamatory remarks to be posted.
THIS IS MY FIRST AND LAST POST ON THIS BLOG. MOST OF THE BLOGGERS ARE NOTHING OTHER THAN A BUNCH OF HATE MONGERS WHO HAVE NO LIFE. TAKE AN ADVICE AND GET A LIFE!
Maybe the bloggers should realize that development in Queens is happening not because of some secret vast machine conspiracy but because the large majority of the hard-working residents of this city, and of Queens, are happy with most of the development and want it to continue. Most people love Atlas Park. The few narrow-minded big mouth complainers out there are not going to stop the improvement of Queens.
"Maybe the bloggers should realize that development in Queens is happening not because of some secret vast machine conspiracy but because the large majority of the hard-working residents of this city, and of Queens, are happy with most of the development and want it to continue."
HA HA HA HA Do you realize that the #1 priority for civic groups across Queens during the 2005 election was overdevelopment? That Bloomberg had to adjust his platform to take care of it? The reason development in Queens is happening is because politicians are bought with real estate money.
"the large majority of the hard-working residents of this city, and of Queens, are happy with most of the development and want it to continue."
People use to say that about 'happy darkies' and serfs under communism - yes they were happy because no one gave them options (and those who disagreed were simply ignored or showed the door)
The beauty of something like Crapper is this is a true refection on how the public feels because this is by the public.
"Most people love Atlas Park. The few narrow-minded big mouth complainers out there are not going to stop the improvement of Queens."
Well lets not talk about the builder of Atlas Park being involved in an organization to empower people (still can't get over that one – why don’t they ask someone from Hunters Point, or Willets Point, or Jamaica, or Maspeth join – but a Queens developer for Christ sake – you have to be kidding!)
You see, my friend, those days were a Herbert Hoover can say what is good for General Motors is good for America, or a Queens politician to say what is good for a developer is good for Queens, is just about over.
And no one, my friend, can tell where this will lead us. But it is pretty exciting and I for one am looking forward to the future.
And as for you, Mr. Developer, get used to it. You are going to have to move over cause John Q Citizen is about to sit down at the luau for some pineapple. Umm umm good! Publish Reject
"You see, my friend, those days were[sic] a Herbert Hoover can say what is good for General Motors is good for America..."
For the sake of the record: the misquoted sentiment expressed above was uttered by Charles E. Wilson (not Herbert Hoover). Wilson was the President of General Motors who during his confirmation hearings to be the US Secretary of Defense, during the first Eisenhower administration, in front of the US Senate uttered the following:
"..because for years I thought what was good for the country was good for General Motors and vice versa."
Please get it right. Wilson put the country BEFORE the corporation.
You are quite correct on that. Now the article goes on by saying:
"We quite often hear the phrase "What's good for General Motors is good for the United States" cited by those who wish to show how big capitalists manipulate the systems of society and the government to suit themselves."
The government of the United States is a device for maintaining in perpetuity the rights of the people, with the ultimate extinction of all privileged classes.
Calvin Coolidge
No public man can be just a little crooked.
Herbert Hoover
The highest patriotism is not a blind acceptance of official policy, but a love of one's country deep enough to call her to a higher standard.

Why your neighborhood is full of Queens Crap
"The difference between dishonest and honest graft: for dishonest graft one worked solely for one's own interests, while for honest graft one pursued the interests of one's party, one's state, and one's personal interests all together." - George Washington Plunkitt

What's with this cat,Catsimatidis? Playing both sides of the fence? Dems and Reps! Big Hillary fundraiser at the same time.
[Be careful Crappie, the Tony Mule Meat Market is on the list. We don't want to find body parts in plastic bags at FMCP.)
Check out who Michael Ricatto is.
Hemmerdinger must be a cheap bastard if he only reached silver status.
I was at the luau. The ham was turkey, the pineapple was a carved watermelon, and the "sorbet" was Italian ice.
Serf your next
Senator Maltese has always been a stand up leader in this community and we should do everything possible to help support him

Too late Serph, here comes Joe.
Developer Peter Kalikow
can obviously afford platinum status !
And would you look at Bob Melito......
of (Sid) Davidoff Melito & Partners (no doubt)......
slipping down to lowly silver status.
I can't believe this goes on. My faith in the democratic system has been shattered.
100% Attendance over 19 years in the Senate and over 200 bills passed into New York state law is a great resume
"100% Attendance over 19 years in the Senate and over 200 bills passed into New York state law is a great resume"
And the borough of Queens is still falling apart.... did he suggest legislation that did something useful like election reform?
Ever look who Serf Maltese has around him? His staff is almost as bad as Gallagher's.
Gallagher was on Maltese's staff. Enough said.
Pink: What an odd color for a political flier.
Wow, nice work on this one Crappy!

How many of those 200 bills that Serf got passed
over the years favored his developer friends?
We need term limits on the state level as well !
Albert Baldeo is waiting in the wings to step up on the Serf stage.
that hemmerdinger is a real dinger.
America Speaks - Hemmerdinger
America Speaks - About Us
America Speaks - Our Mission
America Speaks - History
wow, isn't this fun? a developer is involved with an organization that empowers the public.
correction, a QUEENS developer.
WTF?!?!?!
Here is the crap poop on Robert Richards

I would love to know what you are talking about.
Vote Maltese out of office. Then next senate election, vote his successor out too. Do that again and again until the candidates ASK US what WE want.
These people are slow-witted. It might take 4, 5 or 6 elections before a candidate understands that WE rule.
Never permit any incumbent to believe there's any profitable career in election victories.
The career politician calls it experience; we call it entrenched.
Out of the hundreds of thousands of eligible men and women, we can't find any qualified people?
...yes, where's our Mr. Smith?
Wow, this was fun Crappy!
More! More! More!
Melinda Katz took money from Atco !
What a cozy little family....politicians and developers !
La cosa nostra....complete with demolition squad !
i fail to see how mentioning maltese as a "limping Korean veteran" is funny.
Well, you are right, but the lid has been put on Queens political discource so long that people get a little drunk from freedom of speech.
Democracy is a bit messy, an unsettling thought to those that want the great unwashed scripted all the time.
Anyone want to comment on how his actions 'crippled' the community?
And "lamed" the Queens County Republican Party?
