Thousands come bringing candles, flags, and flashlights, and a chance to see, in the distance, the towers of lights in Manhattan.

The September Concert for 9/11 at Socrates Park - In remembrance of 9/11, the little Opera Theater of NY performs on the banks of the East River, Socrates Sculpture Park (Vernon at Broadway, LIC), 6:30 p.m., September 11, 2007.

September Concerts in Astoria - Cafes and restaurants throughout Astoria will host small tribute concerts, part of the September Concert series, on September 11, 2007.

In Breezy Point, usually an outdoor mass on the evening of 9/11 is held at the 9/11 Memorial, Tribute Park (Rockaway Point Blvd and Beach 218th St), but I haven't been able to confirm this year's. Parking is possible at the church across the street, or else farther east on Rockaway Point near Beach 209th. Even if there isn't an event, the Breezy Point 9/11 Memorial at Tribute Park is a profound place to visit and remember. - John Roleke

Candlelight Ceremony in Astoria Heights - Candlelight ceremony at memorial grove in McManus Memorial Park (81st St and Grand Central Pkwy, Astoria Heights), 7:30 p.m., September 12, 2007.

If not, there are these indoor events:

"Requiem" Concert in Ridgewood - The St. Matthias Church Concert Choir perform "Requiem," at St. Matthias Church, on Catalpa Ave, between Onderdonk and Forest Aves, Ridgewood, 7:30 p.m., September 11, 2007.

Memorial Service in Kew Gardens - at Church of the Resurrection, 85-09 118th St, Kew Gardens, 7:30 p.m., September 11, 2007.

You suicide bombers and terrorists
have been lied to by your "leaders".

Paradise and 7 virgins aren't reserved for murderers
only the gaping jaws of hell.....
from which there is no return trip.

You'd better check your plane tickets next time !

We'll send you some marshmellows.
