Wonderful maintenance on the Forest Hills LIRR Station. Here's a handrail on a handicapped ramp. And the platform kinda looks dingy too. How about a fresh coat of paint?

bet the place smells of urine too, like many others along the lirr.
The Forest Hills LIRR Station was completely rebuilt in the late 1990s (after a section of concrete wall collapsed several years earlier) at a cost of $8 million (source: www.friendsofstationsquare.org), so there's no excuse for letting the station get to this level of crappiness. None whatsoever.
It takes a civilized level of people with manners to maintain any area.
The grade level of Forest Hills residents is quickly slipping downhill..... they've become slobs like all the rest.
After all....this is a ghetto.....wealthier perhaps....... but insular and sequestered. "I'm-too-busy-to-give-a-crap-about-anything- but-making-more-money"......the new breed!
Wait until those Uzbeks claim it all..... maybe we'll see sheep and goats in the front yards......h-m-m-m?
Have you been noticing that due to rampant overbuilding and increased (heaven forfend) immigration that a lot of previously nice neighborhoods in Queens are slowly being downgraded?
First came Flushing....Bayside is in the works..... and now, it appears, that Forest Hills will soon follow this trend.
The Dem Party machine has it's own Department of City Planning....... with the aim of cramming 'em in and importing more votes!
Don't believe the hype - Forest Hills is fine. And we welcome the immigrants, they've made our schools even better than they already were and actually want to be here.
Yes, there's graffiti in the most unused East-bound part of the train station. It should be better taken care of, but if you look at the people actually USING the LIRR at Forest Hills, I don't think you'd be too worried about Forest Hills becoming a ghetto.
Mazeartist..... I'd use (slur or satire) or any technique or term I choose to criticize ANY SLOB.... Black, White or Pink.....yes, even Jewish (I'd better not say "Jew"....although proper usage... lest some bigot call me an anti Semite)
I'd even insult a green Martian visitor who dared to piss purple on the platform!
You'd best go back to painting yourself into one of your mazes.... that is when you stop knee jerking around!
Are you one of those upstanding upscale residents that your boasting about"Forest Hills 72".... or just someone who's got a lot of time to spend on your PC while mom and dad are busy working to pay your tuition ?
The "Gardens" may be OK...... but the rest of the "Hills" is getting dog eared! You're the one who's cranking out the "hype"!
the LIRR is to blame for the delapidated condition of the platforms, but a bit of the responsibility also lies with commuters who toss litter on to the ground. These slobs need to have some manners smacked into them.
FHG need not worry when they eventually become surrounded by east/euro block types ! They can ratchet up their "upscale" hype and install an 8 foot fence (architecturally appropriate...of course) around their enclave...... just like the cavalry post at Fort Apache !
Hey "Roz"..... sorry I never caught your last name..... you'd better tint your big eyeglasses a darker shade when you venture out beyond "The Gardens".
And give Borat's cow a hug for me....would you ? Thanks doll !
Haven't read all the comments but they seem to be centered on the LIRR. How about the scaffolding that has been a part of Station Square for the last few years? The Gardens Corporation is obviously completely powerless to do anything about it! But they'll jump down your neck if you use the wrong shade of paint in a New York minute. FHGC is nothing but a paper tiger.

If this was in Manhattan it wouldn't look like this. So why is it ok for Queens?
Hey Trib, how about an editoral?
But it's Forest Hills Garden urine.....
a rare upscale fragrance.
It definitely doesn't look like an upscale area anymore, Forest Hills...

What? Its crap and its in Queens. Whats the problem.

there's a gap in the metal bar fence. A child could slip through it and plummet to their death.
That interior photo conveys much......
a picture that's worth a thousand odors!

Are ya listenin' Billary?
"Billary"
clever pun.
The MTA's policy appears to have grand renovations every decade or so, but lack of maintenance in between, allowing this station to gradually rot.
To the poster who insulted the Uzbeks- would you use the same slurs against blacks and Latinos? Racism is wrong no matter who your target is.
Uzbek is not a race, it is a nationality.
Borat is back.

Yea, when Borat insulted Americans they gave him a prise, look cross ways at the tweeded and you get the machine all huffy and puffy.
Look at Archie Bunker, my oh my, open season on that boy, right?
Well, my friend, welcome to America - without a doubt, the least racist nation in the world.
Don't believe us? Ask the tweeded about THEIR country!
Forest Hills is not the classy place it was when Alexander's existed.

Back to the point folks.....
the LIRR maintains its Nassau & Suffolk county stations immaculately.
They don't give a crap what happens
to the ones in NYC !
Take a look around.
Why do we pay the highest rates on shorter runs within city limits......
when you can travel greater distances on the island at cheaper rates?
Stop keeping NYC stations looking like pig pens!

I live here....I know!
Funny how the people in the Gardens turn their nose up at the city preservation movement.
They think thier standards are better than landmarking.
The problem is an island in the sea of crap still will still smell like a shithouse.
When will people wake up?
When will people wise up?
Chalk another one to the marvelous public education efforts by the city wide preservation movement.

Borat don't live well with Usbeks.
In old country they foul our wells
and date our chickens.
Maybe Forest Hills not for me.
And FHG......far too restrictive for me
to run my ox cart taxi service!
