"I guess heaven must have needed a shortstop," Yankees owner George Steinbrenner said in a statement. "He epitomized the Yankee spirit - gritty and hard charging - and he wore the pinstripes proudly."

Rest in peace.

New York has suffered a tremendous loss with the passing away of the Scooter and Charitable Brooke too.
Although Scooter is incorrectly associated with Brooklyn, Rizzutto was a Glendale native and attended Richmond Hill High School. Along with Astoria native Whitey Ford, we have two Queens natives as New York Yankees Hall Of Famers. One of our own has passed. May he rest in peace.
Scooter has now joined Joltin' Joe.....the Bambino..... and the best of the rest of the olde Yankee lineup.
There must be a helluva game being played
in heaven tonight!
Rest in peace boys with the rest of the immortals.
Anonymous #1: Rizzutto was born In Brooklyn.
The baseball stadium where Rizzutto and many other legendary Yankees played is about to be demolished. That just doesn't seem right.
The hallowed ground will be subdivided into smaller fields, just like housing lots.
If they do that the great Bambino may issue another curse.
How about the Curse of the Scooter?
