Unique and ubiquitous

Now here's something you don't see every day - a tall shrine in the front yard. You can't tell from this angle, but there's an elongated addition in the back that serves as a church hall.
Next door, however, is something that you most likely do see every day. And it appears to be a thru lot, so the owners of the little house/church with the shrine in the yard better brace themselves. They've applied to erect a 15 unit building on a double-wide lot where there once was a one-family house.

Here's an aerial view of both properties before the demolition.

A 15-unit building on a one family home lot? Man, developers get away with anything here in Queens. It's an absolute free for all.

Flushing recently had a blackout because of all this overbuilding. But let's pretend it's Kevin Burke's fault and not the city's.

We don't need electricity in Flushing.

The "spiritual glow"
being emitted by all the "religious" institutions
that are proliferating by the hundreds
will surely light the way!

It looks like a Chinese Howard Johnsons
but with a green tile roof instead of the traditional orange!

Hey....if it doesn't make it as a "church"
the owners can always install
a neon sign out front and turn it into a drive thru
take out place called "Asian Eats" or something.
