Councilman Peter Vallone Jr. introduced legislation Wednesday that would make peeping a misdemeanor, punishable by a maximum of 90 days in jail and $500 fine.
NYC Councilman Wants to Crack Down on Voyeurs
Vallone said the legislation was inspired by an incident at the subway stop near his district office in Queens. Several female constituents had complained to him about a man that routinely stands under the stairwell to the elevated stop, only on warm days in the morning, and appears to be peering up women's skirts.
Not everyone is enthused about the proposed bill:

Noooooooo!!!!!
It may sound reasonable on the face of it -- and it will certainly help Peter "Not my Father" Vallone Jr. get into the papers. But if you read the actual text of the actual bill itself it's laughably pathetic and virtually unenforceable, especially the part about "peeping" in public places.
Sounds like a high school student wrote it for a moot court exercise, not like an elected legislator wrote it.
So let me get this straight, Vallone is cracking down on peeping toms but defends rapists, way to go Pete.
Poor old Pete. He actually seems to believe the people want more stupid regulations. Next thing you know, casually looking at someone you find attractive will be outlawed. We will all have to walk around with blinders on, like race horses or something.
What ever happened to the days when a pervert would just get a good slap across the face from women? Oh wait I know, that was probably outlawed too.
It never ceases to amaze me how our city council finds the most obscure things to focus on.
Yes, peeping toms and Styrofoam containers should be dealt with, but aren't there more pressing issues that need their attention?
Vallone apparently thinks that his rabid defense of Gallagher (while simultaneously wanting to pull the switch on the Astoria rapist) and his current "fury" at "peepers" gets him off the hook with the voters.
No, Vallone. You are now known to have no good judgment regarding these matters.
Find another occupation.
Another obsucre thing was the symbolic and unenforceable ban of the N-word. I hear the next thing on the Council's agenda is to get an amendment passed that will require people to make double knots in their shoelaces, or face fines of $150.
Hey, Vallone, you want to do something, how about stopping the urban deterioration of Astoria.
Used to be a good neighborhood, but now its not Greek or Italian but Hispanic and Middle-Eastern community.
What goes for social life are bars full of angry men smooking hookas or discussing the Bosnian question.
Don "Junior" Vallone should join John Liu .
Which one of these two political pervs
wins the contest of who gets into the newspapers
the most with asinine issues ? !!!
