Industrial conversions targeted

Sorry we missed this earlier...but better late than never!

Illegal Industrial Conversions May Soon Be Fined
By Staff Reporter of the Sun
June 28, 2007

The City Council is considering cracking down on the illegal conversion of industrial buildings for residential housing through hefty fines and jail sentences that would last up to one year.

Under a bill proposed by council member Diana Reyna of Brooklyn, anyone involved in an illegal conversion would be fined up to $5,000 for the first offense, up to $15,000 for a second offense within 18 months, and up to $20,000 for a third offense during the same period. They also would face jail time.

Ms. Reyna said rents for small businesses are skyrocketing because industrial space designed for commercial tenants has been turned into housing. The council will hold a hearing on the bill today.

Sorry folks...my past comment was meant for the Gallagher "porn" post (sorry for the error).

So we have Gallagher investigated and wiretapped for taking kickbacks, rigging contests and corrupting the building department. Then we have him selling porn at a Catholic High School. Now he is accused of raping a woman in his office and that he picked up at a bar across the street from his house.

This guy is the devil.

Now now, boys and girls, Gallagher has got more sympathy from the press and the polticians than St Saviours.

It tells us one thing: the elite of Queens holds its people in contempt.
