And now, another dumb letter from a public official.
Mr. or Ms. Letter Writer, ask some of those folks in Sunnyside if landmarking of property without owner consent is possible. You'll get a very different (and correct) answer.
Hey Joe, you might want to call the Landmarks Preservation Commission before you send out another stupid reply like this one. Either you are grossly misinformed, or you flat out lied. Which is it?
Name and address removed to protect the tweeded.

Ta da! Ladies and Gentlemen and Children of all Ages! Through the auspices of the late great beloved former Qveens County Democratic Chairman and Yoonited States Representative, Thomas Manton, we present for your viewing pleasure and consideration the Wonder of Wonders:
The Cerebral & Magnificent Homunculus, Joseph Crowley!!!
[Check out "Other Uses of the Name 'Homunculus'" on the "Homunculus" entry on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homunculus]
Belongs on this year's "Top 100 Government's Stupidest Moments." It doesn't exist, but should go into effect. Moments should be proposed, and then voted on at year's end. What are your thoughts, Queens Crapper?
Crowley, do your homework!
How does Joe Crowley have such influence in this area's politics? I understand how his family connections have gotten him to where he is, but he has been taken quite far in the Queens political hierarchy for someone so unimpressive.
Duh.....indeed !
Did Joey boy" lie" or is he just plain "stupid" !
I think it was Voltaire (?) who said, "I prefer the wicked to the stupid because the wicked sometimes sleep" !
In other words BEING STUPID is a 24/7 full time job !!!!!
So, once again party boss Joe.....are you a wicked liar or dumber than dirt.......or do you have such low regard for your constituents' intelligence that you choose to insult them in any case !
One thing for sure.....your just plain lazy and don't wish to get involved in any possibly thorny landmarking issues ! It doesn't suit your needs or greed !
Once again, we must thank Queens Crap for exposing a raw nerve.
Perhaps the most important reason preservation in Queens is so far behind the rest of the city is that the political elite and media of this borough consistently give its residents misleading information on preservation with the calm assurance that, (at least until ol Crappie showed up), no one would challenge them.
Another example? Think the recent reporting of Sunnyside Gardens landmark hearings where the vast majority of the community stood up the this sort of drivel from the press and politicians and came out for solidly landmarking. Did this stop the lies?
Naw. Every article in the news, every utterance from a clubhouse hack, gave one the impression that the community was against landmarking, or that the process was not worth it as it tore apart the community pitting neighbor against neighbor, etc. Things got so out of hand that Simeon Bankoff, executive director of HDC actually had to write to the Western Queens Gazette pointing out its non-factual (shall we say lies?) reporting.
At this point, everyone now knows about this problem. Everyone knows that preservation, laboring in this environment, will make very little progress.
The point is no one, let us repeat, no one, is going to do anything about it. That four borough group? Queens Civic Congress? Historic Districts Council? NY Landmarks Conservancy? The borough historian?
Dear God, in a borough of 2.5 million, is there anyone with backbone?
Who's advising him? Parkside?
George Dellis, of the community board from hell, is mentioned here. I remember him running around Bohemian Hall with a noise meter encouraging the residents to complain about its noise in order to get it shut down ... so it could be developed.
Do we have to get into information that is fed to the people of Old Astoria?
This is what we have to deal with in Queens, and in particular, western Queens.
CB1: the community board from hell.
"The point is no one, let us repeat, no one, is going to do anything about it. That four borough group? Queens Civic Congress? Historic Districts Council? NY Landmarks Conservancy? The borough historian?"
Hmmm. How about....you?
Am I wrong or wasn't Joe Crowley, JPCA's Man of the Year in 2002?
"The Juniper Park Civic Association is proud to announce that Congressman Joseph Crowley has been selected as the 2002 Man of the Year, an honor that historically, is awarded to the most outstanding leaders in the City of New York."
"Am I wrong or wasn't Joe Crowley, JPCA's Man of the Year in 2002?"
Who cares? This boneheaded letter was written last year.
Stupid is as stupid does.
But it was us who voted for this ignorant moron because he was so ... what??
What were his qualifications?
Crowley won't go away until we make him go away. Those old, rotting shoes of yours in the basement have more capacity for shame than a politician like Crowley. We put him there; we have to get him out of there.

Just as I said, finger pointing but that is about it.
Naw, let see what the self-appointed well funded 'experts' can do first. The only reputations they are discrediting are their own.
Once we can get them out of the way, there might be a chance for some real progress in this borough.
JOE MAYBE YOU SHOULD REVERSE THE ZIP CODE CHANGE
Guys, why criticize Crowley? For all his faults, and there are many, you are all missing the point.
Certain groups are well organized and well led. He would never DARE do something like this with them.
He, his fellow politicians, and the press get away with this because they know that the Queens preservation community will do nothing, absolutely nothing, to challenge them.
And as to support from the Mahattan crowd, well, if they had wanted to help they would have done something about this years ago.
No, adding a few bucks of ice-cream money to the LPC budget and sending a throat-clearing letter to the city about LPC commissioner selection and hosting seminars on how to live with development, from the perspective of Queens, is absolutely zainy.
These steps do not even begin to seriously do anything useful about about real problems, (as is beautifully demonstrateed by this, exhibit A), that we are facing in this borough.
It is rare that a politician would write something like this, and for his candor, no matter how stupid it might be, I thank him.
Its more candor than we can expect from our fellow preservationists.
The JPCA also voted Gallagher their Man of the Year once, and look at that now. It just boggles my mind how a joke like Crowley can become possibly the most important politician is Queens. And we originally did not vote for him, a Tom Manton trick play gave Crowley his Congressional seat. Aren't there any intelligent, capable, well-spoken politicians that can garner support to run against him?
I went to bed one night under Joe Crowley and woke up under Anthony Weiner. Both experiences have been traumatic.
why did it take a year for this letter to be made public?
Joseph Crowley is a pathological liar! I am not surprised that he misled the public in this landmarking effort.
Letter-writer: Fight back, and proceed with your landmarking effort. Good luck! We'll stand firm with you.
"why did it take a year for this letter to be made public?"
because there was no queen crap a year ago. thank god there's one now.
George Delis wanted to turn Socrates Sculpture Park into a marina. He is not a friend to the community.
dumb joe ,sleazy dennis,do noting marge an bitchy melinda
Joe loves Dennis because the councilman lends out his chief of staff for special "favors"
Melinda & Dennis hand in hand, tops it all!
DPG the end is near. Another one just jumped ship and more will do the same when they realize what a disgusting human being you really are.
Brian McLaughlin is about to give you up for less time in prison. Bye bye Pinky bye, bye.

AMEN, YOU SPEAK THE TRUTH BROTHER!
