I love that building with the cathedral style dome in the Castle Hill section of the Bronx. It should be landmarked.....very unusual. If it were in Manhattan it would already have been!
Was it on the North or South side of the elevated line tracks? I'd like to go see it. We went shopping around there when I was a kid.
I remember seing something similar on Third Avenue in Brooklyn in Sunset Park long ago. I think that building may be gone now, though. I don't think the dome served a purpose, it was probably just an artisan who wanted to create something unique and beautiful. We've come a long way from those days, sadly.

Why your neighborhood is full of Queens Crap
"The difference between dishonest and honest graft: for dishonest graft one worked solely for one's own interests, while for honest graft one pursued the interests of one's party, one's state, and one's personal interests all together." - George Washington Plunkitt
The above organizations are recognized by Queens Crap as being beneficial to the city as a whole, by fighting to preserve the history and character of our neighborhoods. They are not connected to this website and the opinions presented here do not necessarily represent the positions of these organizations.
