Responding to an outcry from local residents for more affordable housing, elected officials announced an initiative Monday that would potentially rezone and residentially develop a small swath of land in western Flushing to bolster affordable housing in the region.
Flushing site eyed for housing
City Councilman John Liu (D-Flushing), State Sen. Toby Stavisky (D-Whitestone) and a representative for Assemblywoman Ellen Young (D-Flushing) said at a press conference that they are currently conducting a feasibility study to determine whether a 28-acre parcel of land in southwestern Flushing would be fit for development.
Would one of these three please explain how simply building more housing means it will be "affordable" and why everyone thinks its perfectly fine to displace industrial businesses?

"Asian-Americans for Equality" = "No Blacks Allowed"
Here's an affordable housing idea -build a big chest of drawers and eveyone gets to sleep in one, like Kramer did on Seinfeld. Imagine how many drawers you could fit here. No need to try to disguise human storage facilieis as homes anymore - just build big wearhouses full of little drawers.
If it is left up to developers' whores like Liu and Stavisky, there will be absolutely no open space left in Flushing at all. Lets pack 'em all in, and who the hell cares about neighborhood character or quality of life.
Firstly, let's get things right. Anything thats built here will be on contaminated land! The Muss project that's underway south of the #7 line is, I believe, a federally listed "brown site" under remediation.
George the "A"is absolutely correct!
Talk to some leaders in the African American community and you'll find out how bigoted most Asians are against Blacks!
Koreans, Taiwanese, Chinese, Japanese, who are normally too busy hating each other, usually agree on one thing......they hate blacks more!
That's the damn truth about the"we all get along well in Flushing" lie!
Yes....it was one of the Stavisky owned Assemblymen who (as someone previously posted on this site) was heard saying at a community meeting, "Thank God for the Asians.....we didn't want Flushing to become a South Jamaica".
I believe no further explanation is needed!
The Crapper will not post your message if you disagree with her taste in buildings and design.
She will post messages that have racist overtones and are directly against immigrants and their wanting to live in America.
Your idea for this blog is good, but your discretion is poor.
That's hilarious. If you can't deal with the fact that there is racism in this borough other than the traditional whites vs. (fill in the blank) that you saw on All in the Family, then maybe a blog about Queens isn't for you.
I think Crappy recognizes that people have the right to express themselves, even if it means making an ass out of one's self. Like you have.
Well, this is a juicy one, the clubhouse in a desperate effort to fill the ranks is promoting buildings for immigrants and poor people on brownfield swamps.
Nice move guys.
Oh by the way, just because they are immigrants and poor, they do deserve little things like schools, hospitals, fire housese and the like.
So where the hell is that in your plan, knuckleheads?
And of course, the housing must adhere to federal guidelines and not discriminate. That means that it should have a population profile that reflects the borough at large.

"Thank God for the Asians.....we didn't want Flushing to become a South Jamaica".
That statement was said by former ASS, Mort Hillman.
It's good to see that the last poster was at the same meeting and confirms my posting with his Assemblyman Hillman additional comment!
Hillman is retired. The Staviskys are the thugs that need watching now.
The "darkside" (Parkside) is still busy!
Was not at any meeting with the previous poster. I wouldn't waste my time going to any community meeting. I've heard that remark attributed to Mort Hillman on numerous occasions.
Question:
What do the Asian-Americans for Equality, John Liu, Ellen Young and Toby Stavisky have in common?
Answer:
They all gave money to PARKSIDE & each other.
"Parkside, Parkside
All Around the Town
Me and Mamie O'Katz
and Gallagher's Falling Down"
Poster....that's even better that you weren't wasting your time at a particular Hillman community meeting.....and that this racial "reference" was attributed to Hillman on numerous occasions.
That makes the case stronger that Stavisky's boy, the Staviskys (and who knows how many others) had their own African-American agenda!
We've heard that some Chinese refer to "Caucasians" as "Ghost people". What do these same folks call African Americans?
There are plenty of stories (from reputable church going black civic leaders) telling of Korean store owners, for example, following around Black shoppers in their stores as if they were criminals about to steal something.....and some that were actually locked out or denied access before entering the premises!
